Vegan Raw Food Creamy Protein Shake

They say, "My sisters and I cannot recommend this macadamia smoothie enough – so good…we had variations on that smoothie every day after school.

This is a delicious, completely vegan, completely raw breakfast substitute, ideal for those trying to increase protein intake. Ideal for raw vegan bodybuilders and/or weightlifters."

Ingredients:

1/2 cup fresh cracked macadamia nuts (or cashews or almonds)
1 mango
10 strawberries, hulled
1/2 cup fresh pineapple
1 ripe pear, peeled and cored
3 tbsp. raw wheat germ
1/3 cup sesame seeds or 1/3 cup raw tahini

Directions:

Chill all fruit.
Using a mortar and pestle, grind sesame seeds to create tahini paste if you are not using commercial raw tahini paste.
Grind macadamias (or other nut) to paste consistency.
Combine both with wheat germ to form a very thick, creamy paste. Use a food processor.
Combine all chilled fruits to form a watery juice.
Combine with nut paste to create a thick creamy protein shake. Serve with ice.

Nut Milks - If you think that making nut milk is too messy or time consuming for you to do in the morning, just use this juicer to easily make fresh nut milk and you can even flavor it with fresh fruit juices too, all with one machine. Nut milk is a wonderful addition to any of these raw breakfast ideas.

Raw Version of Traditional Breakfasts - Many raw foodists make raw forms of more traditional recipes usually using a dehydrator.

Colleen Crawford from Ontario, Canada, shares this raw recipe for pancakes that does not require a dehydrator.

Raw Pancakes

3 Cups of ground flax seed
1/4 to 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup or if going totally raw, agave syrup to taste
1/4 cup of pure water
1/2 tsp sea salt
2 tbsp coconut oil (gently melted)
1/4 cup of chopped pecans

Directions:

Combine the above in a medium size mixing bowl. Shape into circles and sprinkle with blueberries.

For Valentine's Day, shape into hearts and top with fresh red raspberries.

This mixture travels well in a sealed plastic container and also freezes well. Enjoy!
