Eat More Raw! June 04, 2014 |
Be Cool in JuneThe beginning of summer is a great time to find ways to be cool in June. I am hopeful that you are staying on track with eating healthfully and getting outdoors for some fun activities. Staying balanced is a daily act that we must all be mindful of and reset as needed.5 easy tips to stay cool and balanced this summer: - Stay hydrated - The best way I have found to drink more water is to get a quality water bottle that is BPA free and keeps the water cool. I found one years ago which is a large 24 ounce bottle that I take every time I leave the house. It is a Trudeau water bottle. I have found them online at www.trudeaucorp.com and occasionally I see them at various stores too. This is a great way to recycle and stop wasting money on buying bottled water and tossing the plastic bottles in the trash. Get a good water filter system - Learn more about owning your own water filter system where you can take your own filtered water every where you go and save hundreds or thousands of dollars per year.
Infuse your water - It is so easy to improve the taste of water by adding mint leaves, slices of lemon, lime, oranges, ginger, dried cherries, cranberries or to a bottle of cold, filtered water in the fridge. Infusing these wonderful flavors also adds antioxidants to your water and it tastes so refreshing. I keep several mint flavored plants in pots like lemon mint, citrus mint, and chocolate mint in my garden. Ohhlala, tastes divine. You will want to drink more water when you have a pitcher of naturally flavored water in your fridge ready to pour a refreshing cold drink anytime. Fermented beverage - Our favorite late afternoon elixer is a delicious, water kefir drink. My husband craves a glass or two of this after a hot day and we clink our glasses to "good health." Get a starter of water kefirs and you will be on your way to enjoying a delicious, fermented beverage that is a probiotic drink that you can enjoy making at home. Add in more raw foods - You do not have to be an all or nothing raw foodist to enjoy the benefits of adding in more raw foods to your day. You will find that summer is a great time of year to grow some of your own foods and buy locally and support your local organic farmers. And a quick plug for my book "Guide to Super Raw Foods" which has been out for 6 months now. This guide and recipe book offers tips on how to add in more raw foods with over 50 recipes. You can get your copy which is available in 4 formats at Amazon or you can download the PDF here I hope you make some fun plans to enjoy the summer days. Make sure to take some time for yourself to energize your body with implementing some of these healthful tips. My best to you, Rhonda |
