Now if you are committed to the raw if not raw vegan lifestyle, then traditional holiday meals present a challenge. Understandably so...

I am a firm believer that since you went raw, instead of trying to duplicate the traditional meals in a raw form to rather make new raw goodies a raw tradition. But sometimes the two can overlap. Here are some raw ideas for you to replace some traditional dishes with raw ingredients:

“Turkey” - Check out the Nosted Nurkey recipe that I used with permission from the good folk at Excalibur.

“Mashed Potatoes” - Peel several small turnips about 4 or 5 and place them in a food processor. Process them into fine. Serve with a few sprinkles of sea salt. Variations: Try this with a jicama instead. Or try ¼ of a small cauliflower with an avocado for a smoother result.

Stuffing – Make a seed pate with soaked and drained sunflower seeds and flavor with poultry seasoning. Here is a recipe using your food processor: ½ sunflower seeds soaked overnight and drained, 1 teaspoon thyme, fresh or dried, 1 teaspoon lime juice, 1 Tablespoon of ground flax seeds, ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning, use more or less to taste, 1 teaspoon chopped onion, ½ bunch parsley, leaves only, stems removed.

Cranberry Sauce - In your food processor add about a cup of fresh cranberries, an apple or two, about ½ cup raisins, and ½ pecans, a peeled and seeded orange. Lightly process. You want it to be “chunky”. Serve on a bed of iceberg lettuce and drizzle with honey to taste and perhaps a sprinkle of cinnamon
